Technology and politics rarely work well together. When Senator Ted Stevens called the internet “a series of tubes” the internet questioned whether he was qualified to make any laws that would regulate its use. Though engineers quickly supported his analogy, his further claim that an email he received was delayed by days because it was suck behind someone’s streaming video cemented people’s suspicions.
Now another aging politician with a loose understanding of how the internet works is confused as to why his expired domain is pointed at a bunch of Japanese brothels. Wait, what? That’s the kind of renegade politics I’ve been waiting for.
Assemblyman David DiPietro from western New York once owned a website linked to his political campaign. When the domain associated with his website expired it was quickly bought up by someone who directed it to a website that advertises for prostitutes in Japan.
Those who may have lost a beloved domain because of expired billing info or slow reflexes know there’s always some script waiting to scoop up any way of pushing a few ads, but David DiPietro has another theory: Hackers!
DiPietro told reporters he suspects the brothel ads are the work of a political opponent trying to tarnish his good name. There’s certainly no other reason why the owners of a Japanese brothel would know who he is, it’s not like he’s clicking on porn ads with his official Twitter account like Ted Cruz.
A while back the world was delighted when Senator Ted Cruz’ Twitter account liked a hardcore video featuring the lovely Corey Chase. Ted was quick to blame the risky click on a staff member who forgot to switch from Ted’s twitter account to his personal one before he went cruising for fuck flicks. However, the people at Pornhub knew better and made the entire video available for free in honor of the former Republican Presidential hopeful.
Assemblyman David DiPietro is still waiting for the Cyber Police to get back to him with the internet forensics on who took over his domain, and his staff has unlinked it from his campaign’s Twitter account. In the meantime, he hopes everyone will stop associating his name with sexy Japanese brothels because it’s giving him a lot of social media exposure and that’s not what he started a website for… or is it?
