My mom has been staying at my place lately, because she’s having some health issues and this morning when she came into my room she asked me “what’s that between the wall and your mattress?” so I rolled over and saw that my vibrator was resting on the edge of my bed frame between the wall and my mattress. I stuffed a pillow on top of it and went back to bed.

After this week’s unveiling of the new water-resistant, headphone jack-free iPhone 7, Apple kicked off an ad campaign with the phrase “This is 7,” apparently not knowing that directly translating that to Cantonese basically means “This is penis” or “dick” in slang. As Quartz reports, Cantonese speakers in Hong Kong are delighted with the unintended joke, since the character for “seven,” pronounced tsat, is frequently used in slang not only for “penis” but to mean “goofy” or “dorky,” as in “You’re so seven.”

This month, pupils across France will be able to use the first full-size anatomical model of a clitoris in their sex education classes. Considering all the technological, medical and scientific achievements humans have made, this seems to have taken a long time. The distribution of this model has been possible due to 3D printing technology; but even three-dimensional MRI scans, which previously produced the most accurate representations of the clitoris, only became available in 2009.
But it was worth the wait. The truth is, you might struggle to gain pleasure from a tool you don’t even know you have. In 2016, women finally know without speculation what the whole of their sexual organ looks like; and for many it won’t be quite what they imagined.

More recently, the idea of a writing machine has started to move out of the realms of science fiction. AI is already used to create news stories (although it is not without limitations) and projects like NaNoGenMo have begun to popularize the practice of using code to generate creative projects.
The results are frequently bizarre, and often strangely compelling, such as this “Existential Erotica”by code created by Agrajag Petunia:

She created the text from different romantic and existentialist novels from Project Gutenberg. In the creator’s own words, it “is mostly unreadable, but occasionally has amusing sentences.
