Hailey Baldwin is pretty, that’s true, and I’m sure she’s a great person with lots of positive attributes, but I can’t help but be hella surprised that Maxim gave her the number one spot at the top of their Hot 100 list (yes, they still do that and yes people still care).
I’m just get so bored when I look through her pics. I don’t know, maybe that’s says more about me than about her, but one things for sure it’s says a whole lot about what it means to be a model these days.
As far as I can tell, Maxim as only cares that the chicks who make the Hot 100 are, you know, hot. It doesn’t matter to them if said chicks are actresses, models, reality TV stars, or whatever, as long as the average Joe likes to fap it to her she’ll make the list.
It just strikes me as funny that the new supermodels are the kids of celebrities, B celebrities at that. It’s true, Hailey has been riding her fame pretty hard lately what with making the cover of almost all the fashion mags, but there was a time when only legit models made the covers of magazines.
Then in the early aughts, or thereabouts, something changed and Vogue and the like starting putting actresses and pop stars on the covers of their magazines instead of models. Fast forward a decade and a half later and we’re seeing that shift again except these days we’re seeing models who are the children of the rich and famous make the coveted cover shot.
It’s like the whole world has decided to tap into that perverse feeling you get when you notice your neighbor’s daughter is all grown up and super hot, except it’s not our neighbors we peep on anymore, but rich people who live in Hollywood, because cameras and the internet.
Are people really that crazy about Hailey Baldwin? If so, I feel completely out of the loop. It’ll be official, I’m old and no longer hip. I. JUST. DON’T. GET. IT.
