I first heard about battle royale games about four years ago and quickly realized I was too old to play them. The game type consists of a player being dropped into an abandoned city and having to scavenge for weapons and items to defend themselves. The server then starts to restrict the size of the playable area, eventually resulting in a lone winner in the center of the map.
It all plays out like a social experiment that highlights how ruthless people can be during survival situations or how high your heartrate can go up when you see a squad of armed players and all you have is a flashlight and a crowbar.
Currently the most popular battle royale game is Fortnite. This brightly colored, cell shaded variant is extremely fun to watch and has been one of the most popular video games on the internet over the last few months. Like almost all popular things this has even resulted in a strong presence on Pornhub.
