Having sex on the beach is an often romanticized activity and it’s easy to see why. The sensual ambiance and connection with nature can make the attraction between two partners irresistible. A casual walk along the ocean can quickly become a romp in the sand, stopping just in time to look in each other’s eyes before a wave crashes against their quivering bodies.

At least that’s the way it works in movies.

In reality trying to get busy at the beach is not only a great way to get sand in every hole, it’s also illegal. Sex in public places may be the setting for some of the best amateur fuck flicks on Pornhub, but those are usually filmed when there are no people around.

Waiting for a moment of privacy before having sex on a crowded beach was the critical error for a Florida couple, and their faux pas just cost one of them the next 2.5 years of his life. Brutal!

40-year-old Jose Caballero and his partner Elissa Alvarez were arrested for having sex on a Florida beach back in May. Though many of you may have tried this impressive feat, you probably didn’t do it in broad day light and in front of entire families. That’s the kind of behavior that can land someone in jail.

Though Caballero tried to argue that the numerous witnesses were mistaken about what they saw, their graphic testimony and video evidence of the pair having sex was enough for the jury. After deliberating for an entire quarter of an hour, they returned a guilty verdict and sentenced the man to 2.5 years in prison.

His partner, 21-year-old Alvarez, was also found guilty and sentenced to time served. Both must now register as sexual offenders. Womp womp.

Prosecutors said they chose to be tougher on Caballero because of his criminal history, which included eight years served in prison for cocaine trafficking. According to his defense attorney, the man was “grateful” for the sentence as the couple faced a possible 15 years in prison.

If the number of condoms I step on while wakeboarding are any indication, people apparently have sex on the beach all the time. It looks like the only thing these brain trusts did wrong was doing it in the middle of a crowd like no one would notice.
