Sausage Fest Island Turns To The Internet To Find Women

Post image for Sausage Fest Island Turns To The Internet To Find Women

“There are plenty of fish in the sea” is an expression used to comfort people who are having problems finding their one true love. Statistically speaking anyone searching for a mate can find one given adequate time and reasonable expectations; some people just have to search a little longer than others.

It’s pretty common. Many people feel unlucky at love which is why we have a lot of sayings to remind ourselves that there is a saddle for every ass… unless there isn’t.

The Faroe Islands within the Kingdom of Denmark is a self-sufficient, autonomous country. With a population of about 50,000 the Faroes are a rather small community that may be shrinking according to a recent census. This is a problem exacerbated by the fact that the islands have approximately 2,000 fewer women than men. That’s a lot of saddles without asses!

Assuming most of these excess men are heterosexual, the Faroe Islands are faced with quite a dilemma. Without a potential mate there is no other recourse than to buy a Fleshlight and start a serious cat collection. However many Faroes men have turned to a different solution.

More than 300 Faroes men have found Thai and Filipino women willing to move across the god damn planet to start a new life using the internet. So those popup ads I keep seeing are telling the truth? Hmph!

When the home you love and the cities your ancestors built are perfect except for being a total sausage party, look no further than the internet to solve all of your romantic woes. Using websites that help lonely Asian women meet foreign husbands many Faroes men are finding women eager to move to the islands to start a family. However the transition is not all roses and lutefisk- moving from Southeast Asia is a massive culture shock.

First of all, the Faroe Islands are fucking freezing. I’ve met a handful of people from Nordic countries and the one thing they all have in common is an absurd definition of what cold is. For women from a tropical climate, dealing with people who consider slightly-above-freezing temperatures to be warm can be a burden. Add a few language barriers and strange cuisine into the mix and it makes for a sitcom-level adjustment to their new surroundings.

Thankfully the government not only appreciates the newcomers to the Faroes, but welcomes them and their genetic diversity with open arms. To ensure the survival of the islands and make these people are comfortable in their new homes, the Danish government has made provisions to offer free language classes and job placement opportunities to make their transition easier.

Now that’s one happy ending.
