NYC Takes Care of Sex Workers

With COVID life happening, many sex workers are struggling to make ends meet. Some people are turning to the internet and sites like Pornhub and Onlyfans to make ends meet. Others are reaching out for government assistance for help.

The executive director of the Bronx LGBTQ Center, Sean Coleman, admitted to New York Post reporters, “Since the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen an influx of sex workers who are reaching out asking for assistance with paying rent, utilities and food.”

It’s pretty amazing that New York has a plan in place to take care of the people who participate in the oldest profession on the planet. The progressive, liberal city has been working hard over the years to make sure that funds are allocated to all the people who need it. Sex workers have a place in our society and it’s very important to make sure they are all being taken care of.

In addition to funds that were set aside for non-profits who assist sex workers in getting off their feet, the city’s public hospital system also received $700,000 to support people in the sex trade. The Council allocated money for sex workers for the first time last year.

It’s interesting to me how diverse opinions are on this topic. People are willing to watch porno and enjoy their sexuality behind closed doors, but when it comes to being out and about with their orgasms, folks tend to clam up. It drives me crazy.

Sex work is valid work. You’re providing a necessary and needed service to the public. Everyone needs to relieve stress and knock a few O’s back…if you aren’t dating anyone, you may as well leave it to the professionals.

How do you Peepz feel about the government of New York helping out sex workers? Let me know in the comments below or slide into my DMs on twitter with your thoughts.
