This time of year always makes me nostalgic for the retail life. I know it might sound crazy, but I completely crave working in retail situations come December. I love the rush of checking stock and making people’s holiday dreams come true with a keystroke and a walk into the back room.
I love hearing hero stories about people who work retail, but specifically in sex shops. While the customers are usually your run of the mill boring in and out type of people, occasionally someone out of the ordinary will pop in the store and you’ll have a story to tell your friends for the rest of your life.
Two employees of the San Bernadino, California store Lotions and Lace had their average Wednesday night interrupted with a man attempting to rob them at gunpoint. My retail training would have had me handing money hand over fist to the scary dude in a hoodie, but the two ladies working behind the counter of the shop were having none of it.
One of the women recognized the gun as a fake while the other started tossing heavy dildos at him until he left the store without a cent.
Here’s a clip of the story from a local news station:
Police (and all of my supervisors) have said that, in an instance of robbery, handing over the money is way better than handing over your life, but in this case, it’s probably a good thing that the quick thinking store clerks were able to think on their feet and toss the ammo that they had at the ready.
They’re still trying to hunt down the suspect, but hopefully with the video evidence the authorities will be able to swoop in and teach the crook a lesson.
