Karma Sutra Convo

I think I have a sign on my forehead that says, “I’m a pervert! If you’re a pervert too, come talk to me about perverse things in public and make other people uncomfortable with our openness because we are awesome!”

I went to a huge art show today with my best friend. By huge I mean that an entire city was involved and there were something like 25 galleries that you can walk to. Over 100 artists were showcasing their art and there was literally something for everyone to enjoy. The whole tour was about 11 miles or something like that, but my bff and I ended up spending most of our time in one building because one of the artists took a liking to me.

It all started innocently. We walked up to his photographs and noticed one of a Karma Sutra sculpture. I was pointing at the statues dick and wondering how someone could possibly contort themselves into the positions that the two figures were in, and the photographer who shot the picture came up behind us.

“If you like that one, I have an ‘Over 18′ box of my work over here.”

We walked over to his table and started flipping through a box of matted photographs that contained other pictures of statues in Karma Sutra poses that are depicted on the walls of the Khajuraho Temples in India. After each picture, there was another one of live models in the same pose. The photographer said that, after he had visited the temples, he was inspired to re-create the Karma Sutra, but was not adventurous to do so himself.

“What’s the next best thing that you can do when you can’t achieve your goal?” he asked us, “You pay someone else to do it for you so that you can witness it.”

He told us that it took him about three years to photograph each position, and that he went through several dozen models because eventually most people either wanted to actually fuck in front of him (he was looking for still photographs, so the movement of fucking created blurry images which was not what he was going for) or they became uncomfortable with having sex with him in the room.

He settled on hiring real life couples that were interested in experimenting and his own voyeuristic ideas.

During the 45 minute conversation, tons of people came in and out of his gallery room to look at his work. As soon as most of them heard what we were talking about, they blushed and left.

I pointed this out to him, but he winked and said, “Those aren’t the people who appreciate what I do. We perverts have to stick together.”

That’s sage advice right there, Peepz.
