The erotic gaming frontier continues to expand this week with the launch of Flower Knight Girl, a Japanese adventure game that challenges players to lead an Order of “Flower Maidens” against the insectoid foes who seek to devour their garden world. The main draw for porn aficionados will be the delightfully kawaii anime characters, each of whom boast an extended romance plotline that will eventually result in players to “spreading their seed” across the elaborate fantasy world.
There’s a certain pleasure in spending an afternoon fighting with the Flower Knight Girls, working to unlock their affection and sex scenes. Each of the characters (at launch, over 50) cater to some specific fetish: blonde or redhead, petite or busty, daring or demure. Your harem will eventually contain enough variety to satisfy even the pickiest porn fans, and the “weirder” flower girls will provide the sort of entertainment that only a hentai artist can dream of.
The mechanics of adventuring are easy to master, and the most difficult challenge in the opening levels will be choosing which of your anime girlfriends to take into battle with you. As the foes grow increasingly powerful, however, you’ll need to organize your Flower Knights with the items and team composition necessary overcome more substantial bugs. Eventually, you’ll control several parties at once as they burn their way across the campaign map, each fighting and collecting treasure as they subdue a land so badly infested that it makes a bedbug-ridden mattress in an alleyway look cozy by comparison.
Given the overwhelming popularity of hentai in North America (where it consistently ranks in the top 10 adult search terms on PornHub), it’s surprising that Nutaku is still the only English-language gaming website that’s seriously invested in producing erotic games. Will Square Enix one day give us the chance to see Lara Croft getting down and dirty in her Tomb Raider attire? Will Blizzard show us some sweet Sarah Kerrigan-on-Zergling action? Let’s hope that as games like Flower Knight Girl gain popularity, we’ll see more mainstream developers move in the direction of explicit content.
