Most of my heroes are ladies that like to get naked. Some of them, like Stoya, April Flores and Belladonna, have made a living from their gorgeous nudity. Others are my heroes because of random other things but choose to get naked because they are comfortable enough in their own skin.
Such is the case with the lovely and intelligent artist, Amanda Palmer.
She came up with a fantastic idea to get people to donate children’s books to the New York Public Library for their early literacy program while performing as a nude living statue. More specifically, she had herself painted by a handful of artists in the style of Damien Hirt’s gigantic, powerful statue titled Verity.
Books, nudity, art and Amanda Palmer???? That’s like all my favorite things tied up in a brilliant bow. Consider me THERE!
I know that this is a porn site and that there’s boobs and Amanda’s pregnant belly to gawk at, but seriously, you have to check out the all of the beauty that was painted onto her body.
Here’s a timelapse video that Amanda’s friend and fellow creator Michael Pope that takes you behind the scenes while they’re getting her dressed for her completely naked on the streets of New York book drive. It’s pretty fucking cool.

The world has a love/hate relationship with Amanda and I’m OK with that. There are times when she gets a bit eccentric, but I feel like her life is going to change very soon and I can’t wait to see what she does next.
In the meantime, I’ll just continue to watch her on social networking and reminisce about that time when she got to roll around in the sack with Stoya. I’m so glad there’s a video of that.
