With every advancement in mobile technology comes a new way for dudes to show people their dicks. Unsolicited sexual messages have long plagued mobile users of social networking websites in an act that many people have described as “cyber flashing.”

For the most part, people can protect themselves from nefarious pictures of genitals by restricting who can message them or by avoiding such services all together. However as of iOS 7’s implementation of AirDrop, some Apple users may be vulnerable to unwanted dicks just for using their iPhones in public.

AirDrop is an easy-to-use service that allows users to share information between all of their Apple products. The feature works by using WiFi to establish a connection between two devices that are relatively close to each other thereby allowing one to transfer files such as documents, movies, or pictures of your dick. Wait, what?

According to a police report, 34-year-old Lorraine Crighton-Smith was riding a train in south London when someone used AirDrop to deliver a picture of his penis to her iPhone. Given the service has a limited range of about 100 feet, the culprit must have been someone on the very same train. Yikes!

The recipient of the picture managed to reject the transfer of the file, but still saw a small thumbnail before doing so. For the uninitiated, it’s not the size of the dick pic that matters! Seeing a picture of any genitals that you didn’t ask for can be a traumatizing event which is the main reason I quit using Snapchat.

By default, AirDrop only allows an iOS user to share files with someone on their contact list. Crighton-Smith must have altered her phone’s privacy settings to allow anonymous users to send files, but according to the British Transport Police who received her complaint, that doesn’t give someone the right to send her pictures of dicks.

The BTP put their team of crack cyber detectives on the case, but because Crighton-Smith rejected the picture there was no evidence for them to work with. Lesson learned!

If you absolutely must alter your phone’s settings to allow any Tom, Dick, or Harry to send you pictures of their hairy dick, have the common sense to accept it. This will give the police a chance to track down the ne’er-do-well that sent it to you, thereby restoring peace and justice to the world.
